As a critical component of the Ennis Downtown Master Plan and the future Union Pacific Safety Zone, the elevation and redesign of the trestle bridge on Ennis Avenue will also elevate the revitalization of our historic downtown and create a new iconic landmark.
In addition to welcoming visitors, the new underpass will allow trains to safely and easily pass overhead of street traffic, relieve road congestion and act as a gateway, connecting the IH45 market to our vibrant downtown market.
The striking architectural design of the underpass and rail corridor was created by landscape architecture firm, MESA. Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) is working on track, structural and civil engineering and will be handling project management services and railroad coordination.
The project is projected to begin in 2024 and be completed in 2026.
