Ennis, Texas - June 6th, 2024 - Ennis, Texas celebrated a significant milestone today with the groundbreaking ceremony for IKO Metals' new Decra Residential Metal Roofing plant. IKO Metals North America, a globally-focused family-owned business headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, operates multiple brand plants worldwide. The event welcomed city and county representatives alongside IKO leadership, marking the commencement of construction on this state-of-the-art facility.
IKO's decision to invest $40 million in our community reflects its confidence in Ennis's economic potential. The new plant, dedicated to Decra metal tile, shingle, and shake roofing products, utilizes a proprietary stone-coating process that integrates natural stone granules with multi-layered steel. This advanced roofing material not only provides durability against diverse weather conditions but also offers a range of styles, colors, and textures to suit various architectural preferences.
Jim Wehmeier, Economic Development Director, shared his thoughts on the development: "The 204,000 sqft facility undergoing renovations will serve as a beacon of innovation, bringing at least 80 new job opportunities to Ennis over the next three years. This partnership between IKO Metals and our community not only strengthens our local economy but also positions Ennis as a pivotal center for cutting-edge manufacturing."
